While the Vietnamese LoL scene, as well as the global community, is currently in a resting phase between seasons, closely monitoring the transfer news of various teams, a “specialty” of the VCS and Esports still persists. This includes various dramas for all sorts of reasons and potentially involving any character in the scene. This time, a quite famous former VCS commentator, Thanh T. (known as T. Gấu), is the “main character”.
According to reports, this former commentator is accused of “exploiting trust to misappropriate assets,” specifically 10 ROG Phones (valued at around 200 million VND in total by the accuser) from the brand ASUS. After leaving the Vietnamese LoL scene, this individual reportedly transitioned to Arena of Valor and has established a certain presence there.
According to the whistleblower, the timeline spans from October 2022 to early December 2023, during which commentator T. contacted ASUS as an employee of company O. to propose that this brand sponsor the student tournament. Although the tournament ultimately did not take place, ASUS still acknowledged company O. as one of its partners in Vietnam.
From June 2023 to the end of July 2023, according to information from the accuser, commentator T. continued to act as an employee of company O. to work with ASUS and received 10 ROG Phones from the brand (the information states that commentator T. confirmed receipt of the items) to run a nationwide student tournament program. However, in September 2023, the accuser discovered that commentator T. had not been an employee of company O. since June 2023. The company O. contacted and requested commentator T. to create an inventory of the ASUS devices and commit to returning them by the end of November 2023. However, according to the whistleblower, as of the posting date (December 5, 2023), commentator T. had not yet returned the devices.
Notably, among those who shared the post accusing commentator T., someone from the industry openly stated that they had “warned multiple times” about commentator T.’s lifestyle, but no one believed it. This person also shared that they lost a project that was prepared for nearly a year because of commentator T.
For those who may not know, commentator T. was originally a League of Legends commentator from the early days of LoL tournaments in Vietnam. On this commentator’s personal page, there are photos taken with prominent figures in the Vietnamese LoL scene from when they first started their career. Many of these individuals are linked to the establishment and development of the VCS tournament. Currently, the situation is drawing attention from both the Vietnamese LoL community and Arena of Valor audiences.
