Recently, Criss Fowler – a former employee of Riot Games – has spoken out about the sexual assault by a former League of Legends commentator in Europe. Specifically, Criss shared in a Twitlonger (a type of unrestricted Twitter post) about a series of incidents that occurred over an extended period, starting from April 6, 2014 – the time she joined Riot Games.

Criss stated that she currently does not have the courage to reveal the name of the person who harassed her, but with the information disclosed, such as “having been a League of Legends commentator in Europe” and currently “still holding high positions in the Esports community”, the public has quickly identified the suspect: Caster Joe Miller – who served as a League of Legends commentator from 2013 to 2014 and is currently the Talent Development Director at ESL Esports.

According to Criss, she joined Riot Games to work with her boyfriend (who is a designer at Riot), and during the first parties, the aforementioned “former commentator” approached her and made inappropriate advances, such as reaching under her skirt and touching her body.
Subsequently, he contacted her on social media and made suggestive remarks about sensitive topics, offering to help her advance in the Esports field in exchange. Criss later found out that she was not the only one; many other female employees at Riot experienced similar harassment.

The “former” commentator even did not hide his perverse intentions when he invited Criss to participate in his orgies. Criss also added that she reacted strongly and even called on other victims to accuse him. This caused the harasser to abandon his intentions.
Although the incidents occurred in 2014, the reason Criss Fowler has only now come forward to accuse her harasser is due to the growth of the movement advocating for women and against sexual harassment in the Esports community, which is currently receiving significant support.
Previously, as we reported, male Caster HenryG from CS:GO is the latest name involved in these scandals, having been accused of sexual abuse by his ex-girlfriend. And specifically in the League of Legends community, readers are likely familiar with the name Mayumi – a former female player for INTZ who recently filed a lawsuit for being sexually harassed by her male teammates while on this team.

Criss Fowler stated that the abuse, harassment, and discrimination against women working in the Esports industry is a frequent occurrence, and she also advised other women to “know how to protect themselves” and not to be too naive because of the glamorous appearance of this digital entertainment industry.
