For veteran League of Legends players, they often encounter the issue of receiving and losing points that vary too greatly when winning or losing. This has led many players to shy away from ranked matches, feeling that the rewards do not match the effort put in. This issue has persisted for a long time and has caused frustration among many players.

Notably, this negative situation has led some players to create new accounts to rank up more easily. This inadvertently makes the League of Legends experience for new players extremely poor. Fortunately, Riot has taken necessary actions to address this in the upcoming 2024 season.

Specifically, according to Riot Games, they will significantly increase the ranked points players receive in the next season. Moreover, the number of placement matches in each ranked season will be considerably reduced. Even the refresh between ranked seasons will become “smoother” to reduce the time for players to return to their appropriate rank.

These changes are essential to address the significant discrepancy in ranked points gained and lost. This change becomes even more important as the upcoming 2024 season will implement up to 3 ranked splits for League of Legends instead of the current 2. If the points gained and lost remain too disparate while the duration of each split decreases, the number of players participating in ranked matches will significantly decline.

Additionally, this revision of the ranked point system is expected to attract players back to League of Legends. Hopefully, the aforementioned changes by Riot will be smoothly implemented in the upcoming season and create a higher quality ranked environment.
