ASMR content is becoming increasingly popular on well-known streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube. Simply put, ASMR refers to content that is somewhat sensitive, and is often categorized as 18+ where female streamers create sounds, either from their mouths or through various objects, to stimulate the listener’s senses. In fact, some female streamers even use sounds similar to those found in adult films, which are highly sensitive, to excite viewers.

Depending on the platform, the impact of such content varies. On Twitch, there are virtually no regulations to limit this type of content. As a result, encountering “accidents” like what happened to Mayumi – a renowned League of Legends player living in Brazil – is not uncommon.

Specifically, Mayumi could not hold back and had to post a status on her personal page about accidentally encountering ASMR content while browsing Twitch. Notably, the streamer broadcasting this ASMR content was a male streamer who registered his content as League of Legends. That’s why Mayumi clicked to watch and discovered the ASMR content.

It is evident that the person Mayumi referred to is certainly a well-known name in the Twitch streaming community. Nevertheless, the female player chose to express her frustration without naming the “culprit”.
ASMR content is a part of current streaming platforms, but exploiting League of Legends to simultaneously broadcast ASMR content, for any reason, deserves condemnation as an Esports title serves as a backdrop for streamers to create distasteful attention-grabbing content.
