The loss to Gen.G reveals a “bitter” truth about Faker
Recently, T1 faced yet another defeat against Gen.G in a tense and dramatic BO5. However, in reality, T1 had a chance to win against their most formidable “rival” to date. Yet, mistakes made in games 4 and 5, along with somewhat self-destructive bans and picks in game 5, led T1 to essentially “self-destruct” before the match even began. But it is from these picks that a truth emerged: Faker may be the first player to own a skin for a champion but is nearly unable to utilize that champion effectively.
Faker has not been able to effectively play the champion Yone.
Specifically, in the 2025 LCK season, from the LCK Cup to now, Faker has used Yone 3 times and… lost all 3. Not to mention that this champion does not fit Faker’s current playstyle (which leans more towards making plays), but for Yone to reach its full potential also requires many factors. In particular, Yone needs a truly beautiful combo and sufficient items; otherwise, the champion’s skill set has little impact.
Currently, Faker’s winrate with Yone is 0% after 3 games.
And Faker chose one of his 2024 Worlds skins for the champion Yone. However, the fact that Faker has never used the skin in an official match, and for a champion he currently cannot play, only adds to the regret for Galio – a champion that Faker is much more skilled with and contributed significantly to T1’s victory at last year’s Worlds.

Faker and T1 Still Have Their Journey Ahead
Returning to the loss against Gen.G, Faker and T1 officially became seed 4 and must await an opponent from the names JDG/WBG/IG/TES. Of course, given the current context, and the stage being Worlds, T1’s chances of advancing remain very high. But importantly, they must immediately abandon any “self-destructive” performances and regain their peak form. T1 is very strong, but that is only when they are truly focused from the pick and ban phase.
