Vietnam’s Famous KOLs Have an Unforgettable Tour of the LCK
As known, in recent days, the LCK Spring 2024 has faced DDoS issues and is trying to find solutions. However, the tournament organizers are still making efforts to ensure that surrounding activities continue smoothly. One of these activities is the tour of the LCK organized in the form of a famtour, carried out by the Korea Tourism Organization in collaboration with Box Sports. The tour attracted attention with the participation of many prominent figures from the Vietnamese online community, especially from the LoL scene, including the commentator duo Hoàng Luân – Văn Tùng, SofM, Hà Tiều Phu, and Duy Thẩm – Hải Triều.

For those who only follow LoL, the names Duy Thẩm – Hải Triều may still be somewhat unfamiliar. However, this duo is well-known among technology enthusiasts and frequently follows tech product reviewers. Not only do they run a YouTube channel, but Duy Thẩm – Hải Triều also have TikTok channels with millions of followers and likes. Their humorous and engaging review style makes them top choices whenever netizens want to learn about new tech products.
During the LCK tour, the KOLs had the opportunity to interact with Dplus KIA, including the 2020 World Championship champion – ShowMaker. The Vietnamese LoL community also eagerly shared photos posted by the KOLs on their personal pages, especially SofM’s check-in photo with ShowMaker. Many might recall that they were rivals in the 2020 World Championship finals, making this their first reunion. According to many opinions, SofM’s Suning was incredibly strong that year, and if Damwon Gaming was not at their peak, SofM could have achieved historic feats.

Future Plans
It can be said that the LCK tour was a valuable experience, even for KOLs who are familiar with the professional gaming environment. And to achieve these experiences, it is impossible not to mention the efforts of Box Sports. The first step in this collaboration came when they brought the LCK tournament rights back in 2021, allowing Vietnamese fans to enjoy the matches in a proper manner, with highly skilled commentators and a connection consistent with other official channels worldwide. As we enter 2024, Box Sports still holds the rights to the LCK tournament to serve the audience.

The peak was in 2023 when Box Sports collaborated with the Korea Tourism Organization for an event bringing player Morgan from Fredit BRION (now OKSavingsBank BRION) to visit Vietnam. Morgan’s case is quite special as he has no titles, yet he is a true “youth idol.” From being teased for mistakes during the 2021 World Championship, Morgan has shown daily effort and now deserves praise for his good performances.

According to some information, in May 2024, there will be a Korean tourism roadshow held in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Box Sports will play a very important role in this event. With this successful collaboration, it is very likely that there will be more prominent players from the Korean LoL scene visiting Vietnam in the future.
The Vietnamese LoL scene in particular and Esports in the S-shaped land in general are showing a certain influence and gaining recognition worldwide. The efforts to bring the LCK rights to Vietnam by Box Sports also help the VCS region gain more attention from one of the top LoL scenes in the world. These collaborations could lay the foundation for larger partnerships in the journey to elevate Vietnamese Esports to a global level.
