Faker’s Award at LCK Awards 2025 Sparks Intense Community Debate
Recently, LCK officially held the LCK Awards 2025 event to honor players who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in the past season of this region. Notably, alongside many familiar titles like Best Team Composition, Player of the Year…, Faker surprisingly received the award for Exemplary Sportsmanship. However, this award for Faker has ignited a lot of debate.

The reason is that no one truly understands the criteria for evaluating a player with exemplary sportsmanship, as unlike many direct combat sports, Esports in general and League of Legends in particular compete online. Therefore, the spirit of fair play simply translates to being courteous to one another after matches and maintaining a positive attitude regardless of whether one’s team wins or loses. This is something any player can do, not just Faker.
Without considering fair play criteria, the definition of “exemplary sportsmanship” becomes even harder to explain. This raises questions within the community about whether the LCK Awards merely added this nomination and award simply to ensure Faker’s presence.

– They really need Faker to the point of creating a new award
– It’s like Faker will have a hard time competing for any awards in the main categories, but they cannot have the event without him
– I really want to know the criteria for this award
Not Just for Faker, LCK Awards 2025 Truly Causes Much Controversy
With a year full of changes and three top teams having moments of dominance at different stages, it is very difficult to award appropriately. However, not only Faker’s “strange” award but also Bdd’s award has sparked debate as he went through a completely empty year yet still received Player of the Year. Nonetheless, Bdd lost to Chovy in the Mid of the Year category.

It can be said that the LCK Awards has long lost credibility in the eyes of the audience. And this year, although most nominations are reasonable, it still left the audience dissatisfied, especially when it involves Faker.
