Last June, Faker’s grandmother released a book titled “페이커 이상혁의 마음을 담아서” (Translated: The Heart Full of Love of Lee Sang-hyeok), reflecting on the growth, maturity, and kind-heartedness of her beloved grandson.
This book is circulated internally within the family and is meant to be gifted to friends, relatives, and some fans. However, fans have still found ways to acquire and share the book.

Recently, one of the most notable contents revealed by a reader from Faker’s grandmother’s book is the story of this player’s charity journey. Faker’s grandmother disclosed that all the money Faker has received from fan donations during his streams over the years has been used for charitable purposes.
The captain of T1 himself has also contributed approximately 70 million won (around 1.4 billion VNĐ) from March 2020 until now to donate to charity funds and pandemic prevention efforts. Among this, Faker donated 10 million won to a church and used it to… support neighbors in difficulty due to the pandemic.

It seems that the neighbors mentioned here are those living with Faker’s family in an old boarding house, a low-income residential area on the outskirts of Seoul. This money was not sent through any charity organization, and of course, it belongs personally to Faker, so it has never been mentioned in the media.
Faker’s act of helping even his neighbors is a story that his grandmother genuinely wanted to share with everyone, to spread the love and warmth that this young man brings. Faker is renowned as an Esports star, one of the “4 pride of the century” for South Koreans. But in his grandmother’s eyes, he will always remain the gentle boy filled with love.
