T1 and Faker are currently the center of attention from the League of Legends community. Initially viewed as the number one contender for the MSI 2022 championship, they faced a defeat against Royal Never Give Up. Not only did they allow the Chinese representative to successfully defend their championship, but Faker also sparked controversy with comments perceived as “disrespecting RNG.” The “legend of legends” admitted after the MSI 2022 finals that he was “not impressed by any names on the opposing side (RNG).”

Just a few hours ago, LCK commentator Kim Dong-joon – one of the most experienced commentators in the Korean League of Legends scene with nearly 10 years of service to the audience in this tournament – unexpectedly left the caster team of LCK Summer 2022 with less than 24 hours before the tournament officially begins. The sudden departure of commentator Dong-joon left the Korean League of Legends community stunned as he is considered one of the most reputable names in the LCK community. Dong-joon himself did not specify the reason, only announcing it was due to “personal matters.” He will also transition to commentating for the LPL.

However, what surprised LCK viewers even more was the emergence of information suggesting that hardcore fans of Faker and T1 were the cause of this incident. Specifically, according to Korean media and rumors circulating in the community, during a match at MSI 2022, instead of calling out Faker’s name, commentator Dong-joon mentioned the name of a champion. This was perceived by some of T1’s hardcore fans and the “Demon King” as “offending” Faker and they targeted the male commentator. Many argued that despite his years of experience, commentator Dong-joon may have been shocked to be attacked for such a reason, leading him to decide to leave LCK Summer 2022.

However, these suspicions will remain just that, as commentator Dong-joon himself has not made any statements about the rumors or the real reason for his departure from LCK Summer 2022. As for Faker, he has been facing quite a few issues lately, from comments regarding the Korean rank to the “ping 35” incident at MSI 2022. Just a few days ago, T1 had to enlist the help of a lawyer when an anti-fan created a dedicated topic on a well-known forum in South Korea to attack Faker.

And surely, no viewer wants Faker to be affected by these incidents. Especially with LCK Summer 2022 underway and beyond that, the 2022 World Championship – the final opportunity for Faker and his teammates to secure an international title this season.
