Faker candidly talks about his family background
For anyone who has followed League of Legends long enough, especially fans of T1 and Faker himself, it is well known that the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) of League of Legends had a rather difficult childhood. He was raised by his grandmother and father, with no presence of his mother. Therefore, jokes or criticisms related to Faker’s mother can ignite outrage within the League of Legends community. Recently, Faker himself admitted that if he had grown up in a well-off family, he might not have become a professional player.
According to Faker, he stated: “If I had grown up in a wealthy environment, I might have played games worse. I might have become someone else, not the ‘Faker’ that I am today. Even if I were wealthy, I could still play games. But the reality is that when you have material conditions, you have more choices in life. However, for me, there wasn’t much interesting apart from playing games. Therefore, unconsciously, I played games a lot.”
More than anyone, Faker understands himself well
In fact, in the world of League of Legends and Esports in general, there are quite a few “rich kids” who still try hard and perform very well, with Faker’s teammate – rising star Peyz being the clearest example. However, as Faker said, if he had better material conditions, he might currently be in a different job, instead of having to work hard to play games well to earn money as a professional player.
Nevertheless, everything is destiny, and thanks to that, League of Legends and Esports in general has the opportunity to witness a great superstar like Faker.
