After clinching the championship title at the 2020 LCK Spring Split, Faker and his teammates are taking some time to relax and de-stress before diving back into the LCK Summer Split. As expected, the “Chairman” has started actively livestreaming entertaining moments for fans on Twitch.

Have you ever wondered what the world’s top mid-laner would be like when playing Teamfight Tactics? With his god-like adaptability, would Faker easily adjust to the third season of this auto-battler? The answer lies within yesterday’s livestream.

After dominating Summoner’s Rift with his signature champion Leblanc, leading the enemy team to surrender by the 20th minute, Faker began his descent into mischief by participating in his first match of TFT Season 3 alongside Teddy, Canna, Ellim, Cuzz… Although the Infinite Galaxy patch has been out for quite some time, the Chairman only just started to delve into it due to a packed training schedule.

Starting off strong, Faker quickly got himself a 2-star Ziggs and a 2-star Xayah that defended his home well, finishing the first round with 96 points. Thanks to Xayah’s Blademaster and Cosmic traits, Faker ended up purchasing a plethora of champions from these two traits, including Ashe, Rakan, Xin Zhao, Yasuo, Shen, and kept… fumbling around, unsure how to arrange his team.

Cosmic – Blademaster – Ranger: It sounds very connected, but unfortunately, the champions Faker chose were quite weak during the mid-game while his opponents had fully equipped Shaco the Assassin and a 2-star Kayle… fully equipped. Only Irelia was equipped with a powerful Infinity Edge, but lacking a strong enough army behind her, in the end, the Chairman fell to… Top 7.

There were many humorous moments in this match, like three Rebel champions lined up… perfectly, obtaining a Spatula but not combining it into Blademaster, instead opting to combine it into Assassin for Irelia because… fans urged him to, buying two Cho’Gath without knowing why, or the Chairman’s bewilderment when witnessing Darius’s continuous ult. However, the funniest moment was when fans desperately shouted, banged on their keyboards trying to remind Faker. “Please sell Shen for me T^T”, “Spend your gold, please”, “If you’re not going to play Rebels anymore, sell Ziggs”, “Why are you buying Wukong, sell him, please”, “Kayle, please!”…

Not to mention, the former T1 coach kkOma couldn’t resist messaging Faker: “You’ve never played TFT before, but it seems like you’ll still play better than this kid haha”. Although Faker immediately denied it, it’s hard to defend him upon seeing this.

After “dying”, Faker diligently learned from the remaining 500 players about team compositions, item builds, and champion skills. At the end of the match, Effort claimed Top 1 with the Gadgeteen – Assassin composition after defeating Cuzz.

It seems our Chairman wasn’t very lucky as he continued to finish Top 6 in his second match with a Blademaster – Cosmic composition and Top 8 in his third match with a Gunner – Brawler composition. However, the best was yet to come; after some time studying strong compositions and item builds on guide websites, the Chairman impressively finished second after golding Jayce, Rakan, Ashe, and Darius. There’s no need to say how emotional the fans watching the stream were.

It truly was a fun and entertaining livestream beyond expectations. We hope that after these warm-up matches, Faker will take away some lessons and return stronger to delight his fans. Readers who want to watch the full livestream can access it here:
