Faker Achieves an Unprecedented Milestone in League of Legends
Typically, in any game, characters will have eye-catching and glamorous skins. In fact, for some famous names, these items are among the main sources of revenue for game publishers, and League of Legends is no exception. Notably, the rich skin system of League of Legends also offers skin lines honoring the champions of the Worlds – their biggest tournament of the year. Therefore, a twist of fate has come to Faker – the player with the most Worlds championships in League of Legends history.

Accordingly, with the Worlds 2024 championship alongside T1, and also winning the FMVP of the finals, Faker will raise his total number of skins to 9. For those who may not know, the number of skins that Faker has so far exceeds that of 62 different champions in League of Legends – more than one-third of the total champions in the game.

But Faker’s Achievement Highlights an Issue for Riot
In reality, the game publisher itself is not truly “fair” to its champions. There are many names that have not received any new skins for a long time, even though they frequently appear in tournaments. The main reason is that these are champions that are not visually appealing, and thus Riot has to calculate to avoid losses. Notable examples include Ornn, Pyke… Even LeBlanc only received a new skin when she was featured in Faker’s Hall of Legends.

However, at this point, it seems Riot will not rush to change its policies. The main reason is that T1 has become champions, and Faker is the FMVP. Therefore, they are almost certain to have a significant revenue stream in 2025 when the series of skins honoring the one true king of League of Legends is officially released, with Faker’s Prestige skin serving as the perfect visual representation.
