Recently, Facebook and the entire social media network under the Meta ecosystem faced a serious outage that logged out all accounts. However, when users tried to log back in, they were immediately met with incorrect password notifications. Notably, this incident occurred simultaneously, leaving users scrambling. There were still many cases where users were logged out after a while, but ultimately, everyone encountered errors at what was likely the peak traffic time (since it was evening).
Prior to this, many users thought their accounts had been hacked. Reports from various forums indicated that numerous users attempted to regain access, but were met with incorrect password notifications, and when they tried to use the Forgot Password option, they did not receive any login codes. This caused widespread panic, as Facebook is integral to daily communication with family, friends, and colleagues. Particularly, the outage affecting multiple social media platforms within the Meta system also caused other platforms to lag as a massive number of users flocked to these sites.
However, around 11:30 PM on March 5 (Vietnam time), Facebook returned to normal. Nevertheless, many users reported that their search results were completely empty, or that the newsfeed displayed posts from many days ago.
However, this incident once again sounds the alarm about the necessity and somewhat dependence of users on Facebook and the Meta ecosystem. And surely, the head of Meta – Mark Zuckerberg will have to address this incident soon.
