As we know, on January 7th, Riot introduced the 158th champion of League of Legends named Zeri. Basically, the playstyle of this character is to utilize mobility from the E ability – Spark Surge along with movement speed from her passive and ultimate – Lightning Crash to choose positions. Meanwhile, Zeri’s main source of damage will come from her Q ability – Luminous Blast, as both her E and ultimate support this skill.

However, recently League of Legends players have discovered that Amumu will be a hard counter to Zeri, even before this champion is officially released. Theoretically, when Zeri activates her Q, it will shoot 7 projectiles dealing physical damage and interact with 110% of her AD stat. The interesting part is that these 7 projectiles are counted as 7 separate basic attacks and are launched in an incredibly short period.

Back to Amumu, the passive of his E ability reduces damage from all forms of attacks and physical damage skills. When Zeri hits Amumu with her Q – Luminous Blast, all 7 projectiles’ damage is reduced by the passive of his E – Cursed Touch. Remember that this damage reduction will increase further when Amumu has items that provide armor and magic resistance.
Therefore, when Amumu has a certain amount of items, all damage from Zeri’s Q – Luminous Blast will become ineffective against him. In fact, in the “bug saint” Vandiril’s experiments below, Zeri’s Q even fails to deal damage to Amumu to interrupt his recall action.

Indeed, this interaction is extremely interesting as no one expected a character like Amumu, who has been around for a long time, could “hard counter” the new champion Zeri. Not to mention, Amumu’s strong crowd control also diminishes Zeri’s mobility advantage, making her much easier to take down.
