Doran’s Kennen pick is tied to a haunting past with both himself and T1
In the recent match against DK, T1 introduced some unusual bans and picks that had been absent from the professional arena for quite some time due to meta issues, notably in the Top Lane with Doran playing two champions: Kennen and Gangplank. Notably, both champions played a significant role in T1’s victory, especially the choice of Kennen, which can be considered ‘critical’. However, Kennen is also tied to a haunting past for Doran and T1.
Doran picks Kennen in the third game against DK.
Back in 2019, when Doran was still wearing the Griffins jersey, he and his teammates faced off against SKT T1. After losing the first game, Doran was so emotionally shattered that he broke down in tears backstage. Upon returning to the draft table, the traces of his tears were still visible. Notably, in Game 2, Doran also chose Kennen, surprising many.
However, the outcome of Game 2 was completely different. Doran’s Kennen obliterated Khan’s Gangplank on the opposing side and helped GRF equalize the score. In the recent match against DK, Doran used both Kennen and Gangplank, reminding many fans of that painful memory from years ago.
Evoking memories of the day Doran cried after losing to T1 and chose Kennen to devastate Khan in the Top Lane in 2019.
Notably, during that time, Doran, playing for GRF, was also caught up in the Sword drama. After GRF brought Doran in and pushed Sword to the bench, it led to a series of backstage dramas within the team, ultimately resulting in GRF’s disbandment after Spring 2020.
Doran is truly showing his worth at T1
The 2025 season is also reminiscent of many memories, as Doran has replaced a familiar name at T1, Zeus, and faced skepticism over his performances. However, day by day, he is proving to be an irreplaceable asset. With T1, Doran’s journey may be brighter than when he wore the GRF jersey years ago, as he is earning the complete trust of both his teammates and fans.
