T1 is still “going against the grain”
Facing KT in the “telecom war,” T1 and KT are currently at two extremes. While T1 is soaring, KT is struggling more and more. Therefore, T1’s overwhelming victory in both games was predictable. In fact, the T1 players showcased skills that were nothing short of a display. However, one fact after the match against KT about T1 is: They are one of only three top teams in the entire professional LoL scene, considering only the major regions, that have not yet picked Yunara.
Specifically, in each of the major LoL regions today, including LPL, LCK, LEC, LTA, and LCP; top teams like Gen.G, HLE, CFO, TES, BLG, IG… have all utilized Yunara. However, T1 along with two familiar opponents, AL and G2, are the three teams that have not used this champion in any match. T1 does not prioritize this champion even when available. In fact, in the match against NS, T1 actively banned Yunara.
T1 Might Not Be in a Rush to Use Yunara
Previously, both Riot and Gumayusi confirmed that this champion fits the playstyle of the AD Carry born in 2002 very well. However, until now, Yunara has not been chosen by T1 despite being a “power pick.” The reasons vary, such as T1 rarely being chosen on the Blue side or wanting more certain results. But T1 may not be in a hurry to reveal this champion, at least until before the playoffs.
Furthermore, since the loss to Gen.G, T1’s opponents have been too weak, and no team has been able to push the reigning World Championship titleholder to a third game. Therefore, T1 may still use Yunara, but only in case they need to extend the match to a third game, or when facing more worthy opponents, such as the match this weekend against HLE, which is an occasion for fans to look forward to.
