Not long ago, after the conclusion of the World Championship 2023, the LPL community was abuzz when China’s top livestreaming platform – Douyu was investigated by authorities. The situation became even more serious when the CEO of Douyu was arrested and several streamers were named to assist in the investigation. Of course, the League of Legends community had to pay attention because it includes many big names in the professional League of Legends, notably Uzi and Doinb. After this incident, Doinb disappeared, literally, both from livestreams and all social media platforms.

According to many sources at the time, Doinb may have returned to his home country, South Korea, to “lay low.” There were also many reports that he had purchased an apartment in one of Asia’s most luxurious neighborhoods – Hannam The Hill. Many also noticed that Doinb’s wife, Umi, had checked-in in South Korea during the drama surrounding Douyu. However, all of this was just speculation, and Doinb himself remained “silent.” It wasn’t until recently that the former 2019 World Champion made a surprising “comeback.”

According to insiders from the LPL, Doinb has accepted to pay the fine and will return in mid-January 2024. Many believe that Doinb has realized the benefits from the LPL are too great and will easily compensate for any fines he may incur. Moreover, if he returns, amidst the foggy information, there may be a narrative that Doinb actually did not violate any LPL regulations or local laws. At that point, the trust from fans towards the former FunPlus Phoenix star will remain intact.

Additionally, according to many observers, Doinb made his first update on Weibo on January 1, 2024. Although it may have just been an automatic update, it cannot be denied that Doinb’s account is still active. Therefore, many opinions suggest that the streamer may be observing and gauging the situation at the LPL before officially “re-emerging.”

Regardless of the circumstances, Doinb’s return is only a matter of time, and he will undoubtedly be one of the top view-attracting channels in the League of Legends scene in China. With Doinb’s capabilities, earning enough income to cover any fines (if applicable) should not be too difficult.
