It can be said that, for the majority of the League of Legends community at this moment, T1’s defeat to Gen.G is no longer a surprising event. The rosters of both teams have a significant gap in terms of skill and experience. Moreover, Gen.G has demonstrated a more diverse playstyle, capable of adapting to various strategies. Meanwhile, T1 seems to be struggling with their own gameplay. Notably, one of the most controversial players is Gumayusi – the 2002-born ADC of the 2023 World Championship champions.
Throughout many seasons with T1, Gumayusi has been the most stable player of the team. However, after the recent loss to Gen.G, it seems that even the young ADC of T1 has begun to show signs of ‘collapse’. Following the defeat to Gen.G, Gumayusi focused on ranking up, but the results have not been promising. In fact, he has had a streak of ‘red’ games that left fans astonished. During this losing streak, Gumayusi utilized champions considered his ‘weak points’ or those he hadn’t played in a long time, such as Kai’Sa, Zeri, or Ezreal.
According to many fans, having played too long in the ‘bait’ ADC position or having to ‘go solo’, Gumayusi is gradually losing his familiar ‘carrying’ instinct if he is not allowed to use some ‘comfort’ champions like Lucian or Varus. Meanwhile, Ezreal is currently showing signs of a ‘resurgence’ this Summer, especially after Peyz’s brilliant performance in the recent match against T1.
Gumayusi has performed very consistently and has been considered T1’s biggest bright spot recently. However, if T1 cannot capitalize on this, it will be a significant waste of the talent of the 2002-born superstar and could negatively impact T1’s ambitions.
