Recently, FaZe Clan shocked the community by benching Brazilian star Marcelo “coldzera” David. This announcement caught many fans off guard as coldzera has been one of the key players for the team and has been with the organization for nearly two years.

This decision came after a series of disappointing results for FaZe Clan on the global stage; most recently, Coldzera and his teammates finished last at Flashpoint Season 3, the first RMR event of the year for North America, which has pushed their chances of attending a Major further away. Previously, they also exited DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 in 13-16th place after two losses to VP and Mousesports.
After the announcement, Coldzera shared his thoughts on his personal Twitter: “After the recent bootcamp with unsatisfactory results and with my contract with FaZe Clan nearing its end, I have been moved to the bench to reflect on my upcoming future. I would like to thank the FaZe organization and wish my teammates good luck.”
Coldzera joined FaZe Clan in September 2019 after expressing his desire to compete alongside Bosnian star Niko; however, despite having many big names, their results did not improve, and in October 2020, Niko officially left FaZe to join G2 Esports alongside his cousin huNter-. FaZe Clan has since recruited Canadian star Twistzz and IGL Karrigan to fill the gaps, but the situation has not improved, as they currently sit at #29 in the HLTV rankings, the lowest position since the organization formed its CS team in February 2016.
It is still unclear who will take Coldzera’s spot, but in a recent practice session, FaZe Clan called back veteran Olofmeister, raising questions about the Swedish legend’s return to professional play, as he stated in a recent stream that he would not retire and intends to continue with CS:GO. FaZe Clan has about two weeks to make a final decision, with their next tournament being the BLAST Premier Spring Final, set to take place online starting June 15, where their first opponent will be Na`vi, a team that has been performing exceptionally well lately.
FaZe Clan’s current roster consists of:
Håvard “rain” Nygaard.
Helvijs “broky” Saukants.
Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken.
Finn “karrigan” Andersen.
