Crushed by DRX, LCK Player Criticized by Veteran for Not Building Gnar Properly

According to player Summit, Divine Sunderer is always better than Galeforce for the champion Gnar.

In the LCK Spring 2022, the tournament’s landscape seems quite predictable as strong teams like T1, Gen.G, and DK have all secured early playoff spots. Additionally, with DRX’s extremely high performance, Deft and his teammates have tied with DK and also have a spot in the upcoming playoffs. Therefore, all LCK viewers’ attention is focused on the race for the top 6 with the final playoff spots up for grabs.

Theoretically, teams with 4 points like LSB, KT, or NS still have a chance to compete for a spot in the top 6. However, with their low performance and consecutive losses, it’s hard to believe they can surpass BRO or KDF, who currently have 6 points. This situation becomes even more challenging for LSB as they just suffered a clean 0-2 defeat against DRX on March 6.

In fact, even during the ongoing match, LSB’s top laner – Dove was criticized for his item build by veteran player Summit. Specifically, after seeing Dove build Galeforce for Gnar, Summit was so frustrated that he tweeted: “In any case, Divine Sunderer is always stronger on Gnar.” He even tagged the LSB team, suggesting they should teach Dove how to build Gnar properly.

If you remember, early in season 12, Galeforce emerged as a very strong item for fighters due to its damage and healing capabilities. However, this item was heavily nerfed in terms of damage and healing for ranged champions, making it unsuitable for champions like Gnar. Therefore, Summit’s criticism of Dove is completely justified as he spent too much gold on an item that is no longer appropriate.

As for Divine Sunderer, this item has recently been buffed significantly in terms of bonus health. Additionally, with its high base attack stats, the damage that Gnar can deal with the Spellblade effect of Divine Sunderer is incredibly strong. Thus, it is clear that Divine Sunderer is much more suitable for Gnar.

The consequences, as we saw in the match, was that Dove’s Gnar was completely ineffective, dealing minimal damage and failing to execute his ultimate well. Naturally, buying Divine Sunderer likely wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the match since the entire LSB team performed poorly against DRX. However, at least doing so would have given LSB a bit of hope instead of being completely overwhelmed.
