For most viewers following the LCK tournament, traditional teams with many stars like T1, Gen.G, and Dplus KIA (DK) usually attract significant attention. Even the team OK Brion has garnered interest due to their player Morgan having many fans. Therefore, the name Kwangdong Freecs (KDF) led by coach cvMax still seems quite “strange” to many viewers.

Although not receiving much attention, KDF is showing excellent form at the start of the 2023 Summer LCK season. Specifically, they have won all their matches in week 1 of the tournament and are among the leaders alongside Gen.G and DK. In a recent interview, coach cvMax even asserted that his team has a chance to win the LCK.
“An interesting point of the 2023 Summer LCK is that it lasts for 3 months. Therefore, we (KDF) will have more time to train and improve ourselves. If the qualifiers happened right now, we would probably only be in 6th place. However, after 3 more months, I believe KDF will be able to win the LCK” – coach cvMax shared.

It should be noted that coach cvMax is known for being exceptionally “talented” at training young players into top stars. Names like Viper, Chovy, and Kanavi… were once his students. In fact, coach cvMax used to lead Griffin, a seemingly unknown team, to compete with the mighty SKT T1 in the LCK.

Therefore, it is understandable that this coach is confident in KDF’s progress in the coming time. However, in the second week of the 2023 Summer LCK, KDF will have to face strong teams like Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). This will be a real challenge for coach cvMax and his young squad in their journey to conquer the 2023 Summer LCK.
