Not just an ordinary failed campaign, Gen.G faced a serious risk of a “leak” following the EWC 2024. The cause stemmed from the tournament camera inadvertently zooming in on Coach Kim’s strategy notebook. This could make it easier for Chovy and his teammates to be countered by opponents in the upcoming matches.

However, the “leak” does not seem to have hindered Gen.G as they returned to the LCK stage. Specifically, in both matches of week 4, Gen.G secured easy 2-0 victories against KDF and DK. Even in the post-match interview, Chovy confirmed that they implemented a completely new strategy after returning from EWC 2024.
“At the tournament in Saudi Arabia, we felt the whole team faced quite a few difficulties in understanding the meta. Immediately after the defeat and the ‘leak’ incident, the team gathered to discuss a new strategy. This proved to be very effective as we had consecutive victories upon returning to the LCK. Therefore, the previously leaked ‘tier lists’ are no longer valuable for other teams to exploit,” Chovy shared.

Not stopping there, Gen.G CEO Arnold also revealed an interesting story about the team’s “leak” drama. According to him, right after Gen.G lost to TES and received news about the strategy leak, the entire team immediately discussed a new champion tier list in the lounge. This discussion lasted for 2 hours, and the tournament organizers even had to “kick” Gen.G out because they used the lounge beyond the scheduled time of the other team.

Perhaps thanks to the prompt establishment of this new strategy, Gen.G continues to maintain its dominance in the LCK. It should be noted that Gen.G has yet to lose any matches in the group stage of LCK Summer 2024. This achievement has also allowed them to distance themselves from other competitors and firmly secure the top position on the LCK leaderboard.

As for the other teams in the LCK, they will likely have to put in a lot more effort in the coming time if they want to “overthrow” Gen.G. Otherwise, the prospect of Chovy and his teammates lifting the LCK championship for the fifth consecutive time is entirely possible.
