Chovy Becomes the Peak of Disappointment for Gen.G
In the LCK Summer Finals 2024, facing off against Zeka, known for his versatile champions, and his former teammate Peanut, Chovy was still considered the number one pillar of Gen.G to secure victory. Chovy’s ability to farm minions was unsurprising, and he performed decently when using his favored champions like Corki and Smolder. However, throughout the five games against HLE, Chovy showed that he could not match Zeka, especially in critical moments.

In the decisive game, Chovy’s Corki farmed a significant amount, ranking as one of the two highest farmers on the map (the other being Peyz). However, Chovy (along with Peyz) was among the two most disappointing names for Gen.G, receiving scores of 3.7 and 5.7 for their performances respectively. Although Chovy had the highest total score of the match, in game 5, he received the lowest score according to HUPU’s audience rating, a mere 2.5 points. Chovy’s Corki in the decisive game failed to secure any kills and died at least three times. Meanwhile, Zeka’s Yone didn’t even get taken down.

Chovy’s “Dark Past” Against Zeka
Not only did he lose and forfeit the LCK championship, but Chovy was also reminded of his wounds by LPL audiences. Throughout his career, and especially since joining Gen.G, Chovy has only lost to Zeka in two matches. However, both were significant for the career of the former HLE star. First, it was the loss to Zeka’s DRX in 2022, which meant that Chovy’s best performance at the World Championship to date remains a semi-final finish that year. The second loss was in the recently concluded LCK Summer Finals 2024.

It can be said that T1 is Gen.G’s “arch-rival,” but Zeka has become the biggest obstacle in Chovy’s path to glory. Currently, both teams have reached the 2024 World Championship and there is a real possibility that Chovy could once again be “shut down” by Zeka if he continues to perform worse than the HLE player in the recent finals.
