Chovy is one of the most highly regarded mid laners in the LCK right now. Young, talented, and having established himself early on, it can be said that, alongside ShowMaker, Chovy is a player expected to create his own empire in the post-Faker era of the LCK. The only issue is, up until now, he has not won any titles. The closest Chovy came to a title was in LCK 2019 (both Spring and Summer Splits, Chovy topped the group stage but ended up in second place overall).

In those two instances, Chovy’s path to glory was blocked by Faker’s T1. Specifically in the 2021 season, Chovy and Faker faced each other 6 more times (LCK Spring 2021 group stage, LCK Summer 2021 group stage, LCK 2021 regional finals, and Quarterfinals of Worlds 2021). Out of these 6 matchups this season, Chovy has only won once (in the return match of the LCK Summer 2021 group stage).

In a recent interview after attending the LCK Awards 2021, Chovy stated that the opponents he most wants to defeat are T1 and Faker: “Personally, I want to defeat T1 and Faker. I’ve lost to them too many times, so I’ve been paying attention to them. I’m only human, how can I endure losing to them so much?”

It’s understandable that after countless times being stopped by Faker, Chovy’s primary goal now is certainly to defeat the “Demon King” and T1. Not only for “revenge” but also to assert Chovy’s talent in the LCK. However, this task will undoubtedly be incredibly challenging. The current T1 roster is balanced and has undergone very few changes since the 2021 season, apart from Canna, Cuzz, and Teddy leaving. Moreover, Faker fundamentally does not need to win the lane all the time anymore. And by accepting to step back and become a playmaker, the “Demon King” is even scarier with his ability to control, macro, and call for the team.

Nevertheless, Chovy’s goal is certainly to earn titles. And on that journey, not only does he have to defeat Faker, but he must also overcome all other opponents to bring glory to his tumultuous career.
