After two consecutive failures at the World Championship finals, G2 Esports’ mid-laner, Caps, seems to be seriously considering the option of moving to… China to seek the chance to win the championship.
In a recent stream, he shared this plan with fans and confirmed that this would be a priority choice if G2 Esports cannot secure the championship at the upcoming 2020 World Championship.

“To be honest about the competitiveness for the world championship title, I don’t see any region surpassing the LPL. If I have ambitions to win the World Championship, there’s no better place than the LPL. If G2 Esports continues to fail this year, I will look for a more competitive option, and the LPL is an absolutely wonderful destination.”
Caps has experienced two consecutive runner-up finishes at the World Championship with Fnatic and G2 Esports. Not long ago, when sharing about his reasons for leaving Fnatic, Caps admitted that he felt G2 was the most promising name to rise to the world championship.

In reality, the “Circus” has successfully secured their first international title since 2011 – the MSI 2019 championship for Europe, but ultimately for Caps, his achievements still seem to be “stuck” when entering the biggest stage of professional League of Legends.
In 2018, Caps, in the Fnatic jersey, was obliterated 3-0 by Invictus Gaming in the “most one-sided and boring” final in World Championship history. And last season, things were not much better when his G2 – a lineup of the best Western League of Legends stars, also faced a 0-3 defeat to FunPlus Phoenix.

As for the LPL, this league is always known for its tradition of favoring Korean imports. Karsa and SofM are among the rare imports who did not come from another league outside of the LCK. And of course, not only the LPL, but most major leagues in the East such as the LCK and VCS have never had a precedent for using Western players.
Caps’ talent is undeniable, but is his performance enough for LPL teams to be ready to break the precedent to recruit him? If Caps gets the opportunity to join the LPL, it will undoubtedly be an incredibly exciting prospect for the number one Western League of Legends superstar to experience the fierce competitive atmosphere at the top league in the world.
