In the current LCK, there are two teams referred to as “super teams”, namely Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). These two teams consist of superstar players, and there is hardly any trace left of previous generations. Especially Gen.G, after Ruler’s departure, this team has essentially “cut off” all ties with the former Samsung Galaxy. Meanwhile, HLE is similar, as the only player they have a connection with HLE from the past is Grizzly – who was promoted from the youth team.

But compared to Gen.G, with the continued empty-handedness for another season, coupled with not qualifying for the 2023 World Championship, it can be said that the “super team” HLE has completely failed. It can be argued that the players need time to adapt, and that Clid got into trouble, but looking at Gen.G, they also have a young player, Peyz, replacing Ruler. Moreover, Gen.G only needed 2 seasons to achieve their first LCK championship with this lineup. Meanwhile, HLE couldn’t even “bully” teams like T1 and Dplus KIA when they had their strongest roster.

Viewers pointed out the biggest shortcoming that prevented HLE from achieving success like Gen.G, which is a leader with enough skill and experience to unite the members. Gen.G has Peanut – a name with extensive experience in the LCK, while T1 has Faker, DK has Canyon, and KT has Lehends. Clid may be the captain of HLE, but compared to Peanut, he seems too insignificant, both in experience and skill. Not to mention, Clid is also involved in drama and has no set date for a return. As for the HLE team, some opinions suggest that it consists of 5 talented players put together like a ranked match, lacking the semblance of a “super team” capable of competing for titles.

The superstars of HLE are still very skilled, and as long as someone can act as the glue, they will become top superstars, conquering every title. Just like Zeka, Kingen, or Viper, who once rose to the throne of the World Championship. However, when that figure will appear, no one can say for sure.
