Volibear Hextech Gunblade
Although a tank champion, Volibear’s champion essence requires some damage to maximize the effectiveness of his all-ins with his ultimate ability. Thus, players turn to Hextech Gunblade to address everything Volibear needs as his first item: a bit of damage, sustain, and slow to make this bear god stronger both in split-pushing and team fights.

As for runes, Volibear does not use Conqueror as many might think; instead, you should choose between Press the Attack for short trade exchanges or Grasp of the Undying to accumulate health and sustain in lane. With the item build, aside from Hextech Gunblade, defensive items like Knight’s Vow and Spirit Visage… remain optimal for Volibear.

Karthus Predator
Buffed significantly in League of Legends patch 10.14, Karthus finally returns to the familiar mid lane; however, the perennial question for this champion is what rune to take in mid lane still lacks a satisfactory answer. The most viable rune for Karthus in mid lane surprisingly turns out to be Predator, as it enhances his roaming ability and direct intervention in team fights.

With Predator also recently buffed, it’s easy to understand why Karthus in this style has become so strong. After all, Karthus has a farming essence that makes it difficult to dominate lanes, so our advice is not to bring him out to face strong early-game Assassins or Fighters; he should only be picked when facing controlling mages.

Ezreal Press the Attack
It seems that after the departure of Spellthief, players have yet to find a truly suitable rune for Ezreal; most recently, a few Korean Challenger players have experimented with Press the Attack for this champion, and the results have been relatively promising. The strength of Press the Attack lies in enhancing the overall damage of the bot lane duo and is extremely suitable for aggressive Support champions.

Furthermore, Press the Attack is used for short skill exchanges, suitable for champions that enter and exit fights using Arcane Shift and continuously switch targets like Ezreal. Perhaps this playstyle isn’t the final experiment of Korean Challengers until the most suitable rune for Ezreal is found.
