BeryL Learns the “Last Dance” Buff from Deft
Indeed, looking back at DRX’s victory at the 2022 Worlds, many viewers still feel emotional about the incredible championship journey of Deft and his teammates. It’s important to note that before participating in the 2022 Worlds, Deft had shared with the media that this was his “Last Dance” and he had set extremely high competitive goals. And when Deft and DRX actually won the 2022 Worlds, the audience adopted the phrase “Last Dance” to refer to players who shine brightly at the end of their careers, almost like a “buff.” In a recent interview, one of Deft’s close teammates – BeryL also learned from this to set his determination for the upcoming 2025 season.

“2024 is Deft’s final season, and 2025 will be my last competitive season, so we’ve talked a lot about what comes after taking a break. We believe that a League of Legends player’s career is very short, and you can “disappear” without many people remembering you. Therefore, I want to try my best to win the upcoming 2025 Worlds title as a final dance to end my career gloriously and memorably” – BeryL shared with the Korean media.

When looking at the history of the Worlds, fans will realize that BeryL is truly a unique case in the professional League of Legends scene. It should be noted that among those who have won the Worlds more than once, nearly all players have been associated with and won this title (at least once) while playing for SKT T1/T1. However, BeryL is the only exception, having won the Worlds twice without ever wearing the SKT T1 or T1 jersey. This shows that BeryL possesses an extremely high level of skill and can elevate his team on the grand stage like the Worlds.

A Challenging Season Awaits BeryL and DK
Despite his brilliance, BeryL will still face numerous challenges in the upcoming season to help DK reach the prestigious title of the 2025 Worlds. The DK roster for the upcoming season also faces several issues, as both rookie Siwoo and Lucid are young players with limited high-level competitive experience. Meanwhile, Aiming is a marksman whose performance in crucial matches is not highly regarded. Therefore, the composure of DK in the upcoming 2025 season is truly a big question mark.

In addition, other teams in the LCK (and beyond in the LPL) have also made significant upgrades in strength recently. Notably, HLE has added Zeus, and Gen.G has seen Ruler’s “return home.” Not to mention a T1 that remains terrifying at the Worlds with two consecutive championships. Therefore, to elevate DK to championship contenders and secure the 2025 Worlds title, BeryL and his teammates will have to put in a lot of effort. If they really achieve this, BeryL will truly deserve to be one of the greatest players in the history of League of Legends.
