In recent years, the most notable rivalry in the League of Legends scene, particularly in the LCK, is undoubtedly between Gen.G and T1. Throughout their successful journey, one team consistently becomes the loser in the decisive matches against the other. From the Spring Split of LCK 2022 to now, T1 and Gen.G have faced each other in 4 finals, with T1 losing 3 out of 4 matches. When considering the regular season or playoffs, it’s also a close fight with both teams competing fiercely, leading to continuous verbal battles between fans whenever their favorite teams clash.

This season, the clash between T1 and Gen.G promises to be even more exciting, with one side being the reigning LCK champions and the other being the new champions of the 2023 World Championship. Initially, in their opening match, T1 fell short once again against Gen.G. However, the T1 players admitted that they had experimented with various strategies in the match, leading fans to look forward to a rematch in the return leg. Especially since Gen.G nearly lost if it weren’t for Canyon’s calm handling of the Baron.

T1 has been continuously defeated by Gen.G across all competitions recently (winning only 3 times, 2 in the LCK Spring 2023 and 1 at MSI 2023). Since the LCK Summer 2023, T1 has not secured any victories against Gen.G, and the only loss for Faker and his teammates at the 2023 World Championship was also against Gen.G. However, recently, the younger players from T1 Challengers achieved a convincing 2-0 victory over Gen.G’s youth team, with Poby and Smash earning the MVP in both games.

Clearly, even though both youth teams of Gen.G and T1 are currently struggling, T1’s convincing victory is still a commendable achievement. Moreover, Rekkles is showing excellent integration and could be the sixth factor when T1 participates in international tournaments. Therefore, the young T1 lineup is garnering attention just like their older counterparts.

As for the main roster, T1 has maintained an unbeaten streak since their loss to Gen.G. With the fluctuating performances of the other three competing teams, it’s highly likely that the Spring Split LCK 2024 will still be a two-horse race between Gen.G and T1, and undoubtedly, the two teams are also preparing to set a record for the most consecutive finals appearances in LCK history.
