Just a few hours ago, Riot Mark Yetter – the lead gameplay designer of League of Legends, announced the details of Patch 10.5. Along with the updates to the Fighter item group on the PBE server, a series of significant changes targeting champions that are either too strong or too weak have been released.
One thing that isn’t too surprising is that Ornn and Sett have been nerfed in damage and utility; it truly seems unreasonable when some champions are tankier than usual while also dealing high damage and providing tons of benefits to their teammates. However, the most unexpected update lies in the fact that Turret Shields will now receive significantly less damage from ranged champions, a change that is extremely hard to comprehend.

As mentioned above, the overall system has not seen many updates compared to the PBE version. The biggest change lies in the Turret Shield, where the gold earned from each layer has increased back to 160 gold; however, the Turret Shield will now receive 20% less damage from all ranged champions. In fact, the defense stats including armor/magic resistance with each destroyed shield layer have increased from 35 to 45. It can be confidently stated that if you fail to secure the Rift Herald, it will be quite challenging to take down the first turret before all Turret Shields disappear.

Strength Reductions
Ornn
Damage when activating the Brittle state is reduced from 12-20.5% to 10-18% of the target’s maximum health.
The level requirement for Ornn to upgrade his own items has increased from 12 to 13.
The level requirement for Ornn to upgrade his allies’ items has increased from 13 to 14.
Sett
Base armor reduced from 37 to 33, base health regeneration every 5 seconds reduced from 8 to 7, health regeneration per level reduced from 0.75 to 0.5 every 5 seconds.
R – Arena Destroyer: Slow duration reduced from 1.5s to 1s.

Rammus: Attack speed reduced from 0.656 to 0.625.
Amumu: Cooldown of Cursed Touch increased from 130-100s to 150-100s.
Blitzcrank: Base armor reduced from 40 to 37.
Bard: Damage per 5 collected chimes from passive reduced from 15 to 12.
Nerfing Ornn is extremely accurate, especially considering this champion’s exceptional damage output. The most annoying part of Ornn is the damage from the Brittle effect interacting with enemy health, meaning that whether the opponent is a tank, fighter, or assassin, he still deals significant damage. Additionally, increasing the level requirement to upgrade items by one level slightly reduces the snowball potential of teams with Ornn, but he remains a monster in the late game.
