If you’ve noticed, in the past few years, Riot Games has been creating a massive event that unfolds over multiple patches each season. The event that kicked off this approach was the Spirit Blossom, followed by the Ruination event of the recent 2021 season. It seems that according to recent leaks, the big event for 2022 will be the Star Guardian.

Specifically, according to information found by dataminer Big Bad Bear, there will be up to 14 Star Guardian skins released soon. Many names like Akali, Kai’Sa, Ekko, Syndra, and even the new champion Nilah will have skins featured in this event. With such a large number of skins, the Star Guardian event will definitely unfold over 2 patches with stories gradually told through smaller events.
Just a few days ago, the designs for the two “favorite” champions, Akali and Kai’Sa, in the Star Guardian skins were unexpectedly revealed. While Akali will have a dominant color scheme of purple and blue, Kai’Sa’s skin will highlight pink. This draws our attention to the previous Star Guardian event where the skins of Xayah and Rakan had a similar color scheme to Akali, while Neeko’s was akin to Kai’Sa’s.

Remember that in the previous event, Xayah, Rakan, and Neeko appeared as opposing sides. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if Akali and Kai’Sa (along with their respective teams) were on opposite sides as well. Not to mention, with Syndra’s return, intriguing stories surrounding the Star Guardian group are also expected to emerge.

With Nilah also leaked to have a Star Guardian skin, it is highly likely that this skin line will start rolling out in League of Legends from the upcoming patch 12.14.
