Thus, the journey of ASIAD for Vietnam’s League of Legends has officially come to an end. Although they left empty-handed in the first ASIAD where Esports was recognized as a medal-contending sport, the efforts of the Vietnamese players are commendable. In fact, during the decisive match against the extremely powerful representative from LoL China, the Vietnam team had moments of holding a significant advantage. Unfortunately, the vast skill gap caused the players to lose the final victory.

However, the entire Vietnam LoL team deserves commendations. Their efforts made the Chinese team, which comprises the top stars in the LoL scene, sweat to secure a victory. In fact, no one expected that in game 1, the Vietnamese LoL players could dominate, leading the Chinese team by over 10k gold and finishing the match in under 30 minutes.

On forums and right at the stadium, cheers were directed towards SofM and his teammates. At the venue and on social media in China, SofM was the most mentioned name. According to a journalist covering the event, the support for SofM was even greater than that for the star lineup from China. Some international fans even asked him, “Who is that Vietnamese coach receiving so much support?” Clearly, LPL audiences have not forgotten the “Vietnamese Jungle God” – the one who contributed to changing the entire jungle gameplay of the LPL.

The second name mentioned is Levi, who is also a “veteran” of the LPL. Although he has not played any matches, Levi made an impression by joining JD Gaming – the current reigning champion of the LPL. Levi has already made fans talk about him after his Karthus performance in the match against Top Esports last year. This year, he continues to impress alongside his teammates.

The Vietnamese players can hold their heads high as they leave the tournament. They gave their all, even though their opponent was the “giant” of the global LoL scene.
