Currently, after many ups and downs on the international stage and especially the strong impressions left in recent years, VCS is gradually gaining more attention in the eyes of the international League of Legends community. Although generally speaking, the VCS has not achieved any particularly remarkable accomplishments in international tournaments. However, the potential of the region is still enormous, and many players have shown that they really have the ability to develop into world-class superstars. In recent years, several teams in the LCK have recruited players from VCS and there have been cases of “going abroad”.

In a recent article about promising VCS players, the former international analyst of GAM Esports also acknowledged that players in the region have very good skills. However, communication limitations due to language barriers, as well as the ability to adapt to the regional culture, have hindered VCS players in the past. Specifically, in the case of Levi, who once went to LCS and LPL but was not given many opportunities to showcase his talents.

However, another noteworthy case is when the current coach of GIANTX PRIDE – Malau stated: “I tried to contact Taki or his representative two years ago. All were impossible”. Perhaps many still remember, about two years ago was the period of 2021 – 2022. At that time, Taki was emerging as one of the most talented Supports in VCS. Furthermore, this player performed very well alongside teammate Shogun during the MSI 2022, despite the Saigon Buffalo facing formidable opponents like T1, Royal Never Give Up, and G2 Esports at that time.

However, this deal likely fell through, primarily due to the LEC coach’s approach not being very appropriate. In the coach’s remarks, there was no mention of contacting the management unit of Taki, which at that time was SGB. Thus, it can be seen as an act of “going behind the scenes”. Additionally, most players in VCS do not have official agents; rather, they are often represented by relatives or the team management negotiating on their behalf. Therefore, the deal falling through is not too surprising.

VCS is increasingly demonstrating its importance on the world stage of League of Legends. Of course, there are many factors for VCS to further develop. But the interest from major regions will play a crucial role, especially with names that have established their prestige in the world of League of Legends such as LCK, LPL, or LEC.
