In recent days, the new champion Briar has attracted significant attention from the League of Legends (LoL) community worldwide. However, this attention comes with both positive and negative aspects. This new champion from Riot is designed with a loli appearance and has a somewhat “rebellious” vibe (similar to existing champions like Annie and Jinx). However, Briar’s style leans towards characters from Japanese animated films, sparking quite a debate.
The issue arises from the fact that many gamers have begun to “spam” keywords related to Briar’s feet. In this champion’s splash art, Riot designed Briar without shoes, only wrapping her feet with an ancient type of bandage. Her pale feet combined with Briar’s loli design have led to many “dark” thoughts emerging. In fact, numerous 18+ fanart of Briar has spread rapidly.
Many other players do not agree with this mindset held by a portion of gamers. A female streamer even openly criticized those who are intentionally distorting Riot’s character into a “mature” and sensitive direction. However, this issue continues to persist, and recently, Riot has been forced to take decisive actions.
Specifically, on its official Twitter page, Riot has added a series of banned keywords for comments on its posts. Specifically, the word “foot” or any possible variations of this word. This action comes as many gamers have been “spamming” this terminology in Riot’s posts related to Briar. However, this seems to have not been successful as many comments under Riot’s tweet about the banned keywords are still quite challenging.
It is clear that Riot is indeed facing troubles due to a section of gamers. However, this issue entirely lies with the gamers themselves who are attempting to “18+” the champions of League of Legends. The majority of the LoL community still expresses opposition to such behaviors, but it seems that many are ignoring all of this to satisfy their personal desires.
