Content Related to Chovy Surprises and Infuriates Many
As in every tournament, Riot will have content to introduce players or teams in the briefest way possible. These descriptions usually encapsulate about 1 or 2 sentences highlighting the most significant characteristics of that team/player or their achievements in the corresponding tournament. However, recently, a piece of content titled “Accompanying MSI 2025” related to Chovy has caused an uproar in the League of Legends community by focusing on the… poor performance of this player in international tournaments.

The origin of the incident began with a program that can be understood as “hot take, bad take” from the main analysts of MSI 2025 from Riot. These analysts select some controversial or prominent opinions from the League of Legends community to analyze and evaluate. The chosen opinion presented before the Gen.G – G2 match stated: “Chovy? Or should we call him ‘Chokevy’. MSI 2024 was a shining moment (ironically understood as a ‘disaster’) and Chovy along with Gen.G will fail at MSI 2025.”

The comment was not a personal observation by Riot, but it has upset Gen.G fans and Chovy’s own fans. In reality, considering Chovy’s achievements in 2024, referring to his MSI 2024 championship as a moment is not unreasonable, especially since he ended up empty-handed in all other tournaments he participated in afterward. However, due to the harsh wording aimed directly at Chovy, calling him by a nickname intended to mock, many opinions are dissatisfied.
On the other hand, there are still many viewers who argue: it is precisely because Chovy failed in the latter half of 2024 that this commentary was made, and criticizing or mocking a player is a normal thing. These conflicting opinions have been continuously clashing since the post was made public on social media platforms.

But Chovy Must Also Improve His Performance
There is no denying that Chovy is an extremely talented player and arguably the best in his position currently, but he still has a psychological weakness despite having fought in League of Legends for many years, enduring many fierce competitions. Chovy’s skills have clearly improved year by year, but if he cannot overcome the psychological factors, perhaps all the support from his fans will only make Chovy and his supporters more susceptible to “backlash”.
