Hunter Trait of TFT Season 12
Among the physical core traits of TFT Season 12, the Hunter trait was quite underwhelming in patch 14.17 and earlier. Perhaps only Jinx was widely used when combined with Rumble, while other units like Nomsy, Twitch, or even Olaf didn’t perform effectively. Therefore, in patch 14.18, Riot Games has made a series of beneficial adjustments to the Hunter trait effects and related units to help it find a better standing in the meta.

Accordingly, the additional attack damage received after getting a kill at the 2 Hunter threshold has been increased from 30% to 35%, making this trait stronger in the early game. Moreover, the 6 Hunter threshold now provides an additional 20% attack speed to enhance damage output over time. Furthermore, both Nomsy and Olaf received substantial buffs to their damage and functionality, allowing them to attack much more effectively. Thus, players should seek to maximize the use of this trait to secure easy victories in patch 14.18.
Anomaly Trait of TFT Season 12
A major weakness of the Anomaly trait is its heavy reliance on the Tech Core named School Spirit to perform well. Meanwhile, the base stats of the Old God at the 3 or 5 unit thresholds are relatively weak and do not significantly impact team strength. In patch 14.18, this will change as Riot will buff the base stats of the Old God at the 3/5/7 unit thresholds, making this unit much stronger.

Additionally, Anomaly units like Ashe, Syndra, or Mordekaiser have received notable buffs. Especially Ashe, whose new skill allows her to attack additional targets and can stack throughout the battle. Moreover, Mordekaiser’s buff is quite a surprising move from Riot, as this unit is already extremely strong defensively. Perhaps Riot aims for the Anomaly trait to rise among the top-tier compositions by giving it such preferential treatment.
Gunner Trait of TFT Season 12
Although not a weak trait, moving into patch 14.18, Riot still made significant strength adjustments to the Gunner trait. First, all damage increase stats before and after casting abilities for this trait have been significantly enhanced. Next, Ezreal’s skill has been reworked so that he will now only jump to a different position if there is an enemy nearby. This prevents Ezreal from jumping into dangerous areas as seen in previous patches.

Furthermore, Varus has also had his skill reworked, and Riot has significantly reduced his casting time. Additionally, if Varus has more attack speed, the skill casting time is further reduced, allowing this unit to deal damage much more effectively than before. These changes will make the Gunner trait extremely powerful in the mid and late game when triggering the 4-unit threshold.
