Faker’s somewhat “cautious” statement about Worlds 2024
Recently, LCK held a small kickoff ceremony at the LCK Arena to boost the spirit of the teams before heading to Europe for Worlds 2024. Here, players and coaches of the teams will have noteworthy interviews about the upcoming important tournament. With their reputation, T1 continues to be the center of attention at this kickoff ceremony despite the fact that Faker and his teammates are entering Worlds this year as the fourth seed.

During this ceremony, T1 also shared with the press a lot of noteworthy information about the team’s preparations and goals ahead of Worlds 2024. For instance, coach KkOma expressed particular concern about BLG and considered them the biggest rival for T1 and the LCK region in general. As for Faker, the “Demon King” appeared quite “cautious” when mentioning the defense of the Worlds title.
“Defending the world championship? Right now, I don’t have enough confidence to say that we (T1) will do it. I believe our more specific and reasonable goal at this year’s Worlds is to improve our skills and confidence, which is the most important. If we win Worlds again, I will choose the champion that fans want for the skin, so that decision has not been made at this moment,” Faker shared.

Faker is right with his “humble” goal at Worlds 2024
In fact, Faker’s somewhat “humble” remarks are extremely reasonable given T1’s recent performance. It is worth noting that in the LCK Summer 2024, T1 failed to reach the finals for the first time in many years. Furthermore, their defeat against a “favorite” rival like DK in the recent regional qualifiers also indicates that T1 is facing significant issues regarding strength.

Additionally, T1’s recently released documentary revealed that Faker’s moments of “meditation” with his eyes closed were also used to manage pain from injuries. This injury has even caused Faker difficulty with small actions like carrying a backpack, let alone competing at a high intensity. Clearly, with such poor results and ongoing injuries, it is understandable that Faker is “humble” about his goals at Worlds 2024.

Of course, with such a prestigious team and a large fan base as T1, the expectations placed on them will be extremely high. Hopefully, in the coming time, T1 will have the best preparations to achieve a successful tournament and meet the set goals.
