VCS Region Sets a “Massive” Record at Worlds 2024
As of now, Worlds 2024 has seen numerous matches across all levels of intensity. From the nail-biting last-minute games like T1 vs. Top Esports, Gen.G vs. Hanwha Life Esports, to those that showcase absolute dominance from one side, like FlyQuest vs. GAM Esports. Due to geographical reasons, Worlds 2024 is being held in a time zone that is quite different from that of the Asian audience, especially Vietnam. However, this hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of the VCS community, even when GAM’s matches are scheduled quite late.

Thanks to this fervent spirit, during the match currently holding the highest peak view count, T1 vs. TES, the VCS audience set a “massive” record. According to statistics from Esports Charts, not counting broadcasting platforms from China, the total peak view count from VCS reached 648,768 viewers. This makes the T1 vs. TES match the highest viewed match from VCS in the history of Worlds, although it is not a playoff match.

However, VCS’s performance at Worlds 2024 is still not impressive
When it comes to the passion of the audience, VCS can confidently say it is on par with the regions of Europe, America, or Korea. However, when Riot assesses the growth potential of a region, they also consider the expertise of the teams. In this aspect, VCS representatives have only managed to make a mark over the years. As of now, GAM has lost all 2 Swiss round matches while Vikings Esports couldn’t even make it past the Play-In stage.

This is not surprising when looking at GAM or VKE’s opponents. However, in 2025, VCS will merge into the APAC region. If things continue as they are, then the situation is unlikely to change. Because PSG Talon has also proven their capabilities. While GAM has yet to show any progress, the upcoming match against MAD Lions KOI will be the last chance for the remaining VCS representative at Worlds 2024. If GAM continues to lose, they will surely be eliminated, closing the bittersweet chapter of Worlds for the Vietnamese League of Legends fans.
