BLG is at Risk of “Breaking Up” After 2024 Worlds
With a thrilling victory of 3-2, T1 has officially secured the 2024 Worlds championship in a highly deserving manner. On the other side, the disappointment is palpable among the players and coaching staff of BLG. It’s worth noting that BLG was the number one hope from the LPL region at the 2024 Worlds but they could not overcome the resilient T1 during crucial moments.

Not stopping at just a tournament loss, BLG is facing a dire situation post-2024 Worlds. According to sources familiar with the LPL region, BLG will likely have to disband its current roster for the upcoming 2025 season. This comes from the fact that the current roster is receiving excessively high compensation, which will exceed the salary cap regulations in the upcoming LPL season. If BLG had won the Worlds, they would have received significant investment and could cover penalties to retain the roster; however, that did not happen.

Knight is the First Name Expected to “Pack Up” and Leave BLG
It should be noted that the salary cap regulations have been mentioned since the beginning of the 2024 season, and their implementation in the 2025 season is likely just a matter of time. This will force teams with many stars, such as BLG, to find ways to reduce their salary budget, with the simplest method being parting ways with high-profile players. Just a few days ago, JDG officially parted ways with Ruler, and the next star expected to “pack up” and leave is Knight.

Specifically, many LPL fans believe that Knight is one of the highest-paid players at BLG. Therefore, parting ways with him is a measure to alleviate the team’s salary budget. Furthermore, four players from BLG, including Bin, Xun, Elk, and ON, have been together for many years, while Knight only joined in the 2024 season. Thus, when considering personnel changes, Knight is the name most likely to depart.

Of course, the above information is still at the rumor level, and BLG has not made any moves to part ways with players at this time. However, the pressure from the salary cap regulations in the 2025 season is real, and BLG will have to find ways to deal with it. It is not out of the question that they may still keep the entire roster of the 2024 Worlds runners-up next season in hopes of “revenge,” but the cost for that will certainly not be cheap at all.
