The League of Legends community “misses Garena” as Riot increasingly embraces “gacha”
Recently, Riot has continuously released Exalted skins. However, unlike regular skins, players can only acquire these skins through a “gacha” system via a lucky draw. Of course, after a certain number of attempts (in this case, 80 spins), Riot guarantees players one Exalted skin. The catch is that the cost to spin 80 times is around 4 million VND.

Notably, the “introducing skins into games of chance” aspect was once a hallmark of Garena’s operations. In contrast, Riot typically sells skins outright. As a result, many players who once battled on Garena’s servers express nostalgia for the golden era of “Fried Chicken” as Riot becomes increasingly focused on gacha mechanics.
On various forums, many players acknowledge that since Riot took over and relaunched League of Legends in Vietnam, they have been spending less on in-game purchases than before. Currently, there aren’t many skins compelling players to “open their wallets.” Moreover, the absence of promotional events offering additional RP when purchasing also makes players less enthusiastic.

League of Legends Community in Debate
Nevertheless, there are still many opposing views. After all, Garena was already accustomed to this kind of “gacha” system, and now that Riot is doing the same, it’s unlikely Garena would abandon it. In some cases, players might spend slightly less money if they invest in Garena, plus the promotions. But that’s a hypothesis no one can verify.

Furthermore, Garena previously faced many issues while managing League of Legends in Vietnam. And Riot, until now, aside from RP promotional packages, has not left any significant problems. Essentially, it seems that only in cases of extreme bad luck would a player need to spend 80 spins to finally obtain an Exalted skin.
