Decisive Week of the LCK
After the extended matches of the LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 group stage so far, the results have largely been settled, and attention now focuses on which teams will secure the top 1-2 spots and which will fall to 3-4. Given the current form, the rankings of HLE, Gen.G, T1, and KT will heavily influence their fate on the Road to MSI 2026.
The spotlight will certainly be on two matchups: HLE vs. Gen.G and T1 vs. KT, happening in the first two days of the final week of the LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 group stage. Among these four teams, HLE likely has the least to worry about. They enter the match against Gen.G with a two-game lead over the other three teams, with only two matches remaining in the group stage. It’s almost guaranteed that HLE will stay in the top 2 since their last match is against an unstable BRO team that has little motivation.
However, Gen.G, T1, and KT are not in such comfortable positions. To maintain second place, Gen.G must win their last two matches with a 2-0 scoreline. If they lose even one match, and T1 wins both remaining matches, T1 will secure second place after the group stage concludes. Additionally, if Gen.G wins but with a 2-1 score in either match, they will still rank below T1 if T1 wins 2-0 in both remaining matches.
With identical point and score conditions as Gen.G, T1 faces similar requirements. They must watch closely whether Gen.G can defeat HLE and BRO, and by what scores, while also striving to sweep KT— their direct competitor for the position—with a 2-0 score. Simultaneously, T1 must decisively win 2-0 against BFX, a team still hopeful of the top 6, as the two teams above BFX face very strong opponents this week.
For KT, the goal is also to win 2-0 in both final matches and hope Gen.G slips up against HLE. This is an extremely tough task, as beating T1 is already difficult, let alone with a clean 2-0 score. However, KT can only blame themselves for letting the current situation arise after a puzzling loss to BFX in week 6, despite having had a large advantage.
