Unpredictable Scenarios at Road to MSI 2026 After HLE’s Loss
HLE and KT at top 1-2, Gen.G and T1 at 3-4
With only two weeks left, the LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 group stage is about to conclude, determining the teams’ rankings. Notably, all four teams will face each other at least once in the final two weeks, including Gen.G vs KT (week 8), and HLE vs Gen.G, KT vs T1 (week 9). However, HLE’s recent loss to KT makes the top 4 race and Road to MSI 2026 extremely unpredictable.

Currently, HLE and KT lead at the top, with Gen.G and T1 close behind. However, both Gen.G and T1 face very tough schedules in the last two weeks. Gen.G’s is the hardest, with matches against KT and HLE. A single loss in either match could end Gen.G’s hopes for a top 1-2 finish. Gen.G must beat HLE 2-0; any other result will not improve their head-to-head standing.
For T1, they face KT and then a strong BNK. T1 must defeat KT 2-0 to improve their differential. Winning 2-0 against KT and Gen.G winning 2-0 against HLE are both very challenging tasks. Meanwhile, KT and HLE only need to win three matches to secure spots above T1 and Gen.G. Therefore, if HLE and KT finish top 1-2, one of Gen.G or T1 will miss out on MSI this time.

HLE and T1 at top 1-2, T1 and KT at 3-4
With T1 recently beating Gen.G and KT defeating HLE, and T1 vs KT upcoming in week 8, T1 still has a bright chance to maintain a top 2 spot. However, T1 must win all four remaining group matches to guarantee 2nd place. This means either KT or Gen.G will end up missing MSI.
For T1, winning all four remaining matches is achievable given their strong form, including their recent comeback win over Gen.G. Their remaining opponents are KRX, BRO, KT, and BNK, with only KT posing a serious challenge. KRX, BRO, and BNK are more likely to surprise than to defeat a high-performing T1.

HLE and Gen.G at top 1-2, KT and T1 at 3-4
This is a difficult but possible scenario. Gen.G must win all remaining matches 2-0. Although not impossible, this is very challenging, especially since two of their last four opponents are HLE and KT. Their recent loss to T1 puts Gen.G in a tough spot, especially as their players are not at peak form.
If Gen.G achieves this, they will push T1 and KT down to 3rd and 4th due to better differential. Thus, instead of Gen.G missing MSI, T1 and KT would compete with greater risk to keep their MSI hopes alive.

KT, T1, and Gen.G competing for top 1-2 while HLE falls to 3-4
Another less likely scenario is HLE losing 3 of their last 4 matches while the other three teams win all their remaining matches. This is the hardest to happen. HLE’s remaining opponents—BNK, NS, BRO, and Gen.G—were all defeated by HLE in the first half. Although BNK and BRO have improved, it is still unlikely they cause an upset, especially compared to stronger teams like T1 and KT who have already beaten HLE.

HLE’s Loss May Have Disrupted Teams’ Plans
With HLE’s unexpected 1-2 loss to KT, the final weeks’ scenarios become very unpredictable. Only HLE still holds the clearest chance to control their fate since three of their remaining opponents are significantly weaker. Next is T1, but they cannot underestimate KT or BNK. Finally, KT and Gen.G face tough challenges and must meet many conditions even if they win all their matches to keep their MSI 2026 ambitions alive.
