However, according to Oner, in the current meta, the Jungle role rarely “carries the team” as many expect.
The T1 star said: “Honestly, in the current jungle meta, I don’t think there’s any jungler who can truly carry the team. I wish there were more champions geared towards carrying. Right now, most are just supportive laners, so it’s a bit disappointing.”
However, Oner’s statement, while accurate, unintentionally highlights the role and influence of one of his direct rivals this season in the LCK: Kanavi. In fact, their preferred champions are nearly identical. But champions typically focused on “make play” or engaging and disrupting enemies like Xin Zhao, Jarvan IV, Vi in Kanavi’s hands become significant sources of early and mid-game damage.
Thanks to Kanavi’s sharp, unpredictable rotations and playstyle, HLE’s damage carries get the space and time needed to reach their power spikes. This is the “carry” factor that HLE—and likely other teams—rely on.
