T1 and Gen.G Face Difficulties
The standings of T1 and Gen.G after the first two rounds of the LCK 2026 group stage have surprised many fans. However, if you have followed their full performances, the results make sense. In some matches, Gen.G and even T1 won only because their opponents made critical mistakes in crucial moments. Yet, these disappointing results mean Gen.G and T1 will face challenges due to the new Road to MSI 2026 format in the LCK region.

Reviewing the Road to MSI 2026 format, the top 1-2 teams after the group stage advance directly to Round 3, where they will battle for the first MSI 2026 spot. The remaining team waits for challengers from the lower bracket to decide the second ticket. However, this creates a problem for both Gen.G and T1: if neither finishes in the top 2, it is almost certain they will watch MSI 2026 from the sidelines.

But Gen.G and T1’s Task Is Extremely Difficult
In LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2, for various reasons, both T1 and Gen.G currently sit in the middle of the standings. Their records show 3 losses for Gen.G and 4 for T1. Thus, only Gen.G still has a relatively higher chance to reach one of the top two spots. But the key conditions are: Gen.G cannot afford to lose any upcoming matches and must especially defeat KT and HLE, while hoping these two teams slip up at least twice more.

Meanwhile, T1 faces greater challenges after losing to HLE in the return match and holding 4 losses so far. With upcoming matches against KT, DK, and Gen.G, T1 must win all these to keep a top 2 spot alive. Otherwise, they will need to endure very intense BO5 series to keep their hopes for the second biggest international tournament of 2026 alive.

However, the second half of the season is just beginning, and both T1 and Gen.G will surely give their all to keep their hopes alive for competing for their first international title this season.
