Faker Reveals He Once Thought About the Worst-Case Scenario
As you may know, recently, Faker celebrated the 13th anniversary of his official debut in the LCK, marking the beginning of a tumultuous yet magnificent era for League of Legends in both South Korea and worldwide. Of course, for a veteran player like Faker, there has been both glory and a fair share of bitterness. As Faker himself recently revealed, after the 2018 season hit rock bottom, he actually considered the worst-case scenario of retiring.

Accordingly, Faker shared: “Back in 2018, I asked myself, ‘Is this the time I get kicked out of the game?’. At that time, there was a common perception that the careers of esports players are often very short, and I really felt like I couldn’t escape that trend. However, a part of me also refuted: ‘Do I really have to step back helplessly just because of age? Can’t I prove that this is not true? Can’t I continue to prove myself for longer?’. From that point on, I practiced relentlessly to maintain myself at the highest level.”

Faker Remains a Crucial Leader for T1
Since the LCK Cup 2026 up to now, T1 has not been performing exceptionally well, just at an acceptable level, but Faker himself has shown quite stable performance. Of course, he cannot shoulder all the responsibilities of his teammates but still demonstrates himself as the most solid support at present. A prime example is in the recent victory against HLE, where Faker’s performances significantly contributed to T1 overcoming difficulties.

Of course, T1 cannot rely entirely on Faker. However, Faker’s continued good form is a crucial premise for players like Oner and Keria to shine and bring victories to the defending world champions.
