Two T1 Superstars Need to Take Responsibility for the Major Defeat Against FOX

T1 unexpectedly fell to FOX, and among the five members, two names bear significant responsibility.

Two T1 players performed poorly in the match against FOX

Recently, T1 surprisingly suffered a major defeat against FOX in their opening match within the framework of the LCK Cup 2026 Playoffs. This was quite an unexpected loss. In this defeat, of course, the responsibility lies with all five members and the coaching staff. However, two players, in particular, performed poorly in this match compared to their own standards, the expectations placed on them, and their opponents. These are Faker and Peyz.

Faker is one of the two players with the most forgettable performance in the T1 lineup.
Faker is one of the two players with the most forgettable performance in the T1 lineup.

For Faker, in his role as the core player and a top-tier playmaker, with a strategic mind long recognized at the highest level, he clearly had an underwhelming performance. The only moment where Faker truly “did something” was when he used Sylas and engaged in chaotic, fast-paced fights—an environment well-suited for Sylas to create opportunities with his skill-stealing ability. Otherwise, Faker was too overshadowed by Vicla. In fact, in the decisive game, he was even solo-killed by Vicla right under the tower.

Next is Peyz. Let’s not even discuss the draft issue as this is about the two decisive games. In the first two games, Peyz’s impact was also extremely faint. Even when he had a significant advantage from kills obtained during fights (game 1), Peyz failed to convert that into a lead and instead made mistakes that allowed FOX to “punish” him. Ironically, Peyz’s errors were precisely the issues that previously made Gumayusi the target of harsh criticism from T1 fans—positioning errors.

Peyz also had a lackluster performance and made a mistake that directly helped FOX regain control in game 1.

T1 Needs to Wake Up After the Harsh “Cold Water Splash”

T1’s ups and downs in early-year tournaments is something that has happened in the past, but fans of this team cannot take that for granted. A strong team is one that can conquer tournaments, or at least compete honorably for the title of champion.

T1 has been splashed with “cold water” and perhaps they need to wake up before repeating their own “achievements” from last season. Not to mention, this tournament will also have a certain impact on the selection of the roster for the upcoming Asian Games, and certainly superstars like Oner, Doran, or even Peyz do not want any issues that could affect their competitiveness.
