Gumayusi Deserves to be the Most Special League of Legends Player of 2025
In the 2025 season, with each domestic and international tournament having different teams crowned champions, there were also players who delivered legendary performances that helped their teams secure victories. However, if we had to identify one League of Legends player deserving to represent a tumultuous year like 2025, it would undoubtedly be Gumayusi – a three-time World Championship winner and the FMVP of the 2025 Worlds.

In recent years, no player has donned the T1 jersey alongside Faker while achieving a media presence that rivals, if not surpasses, Faker at certain moments. But Gumayusi accomplished this in 2025. Regardless of the negative or positive direction, he became the viral name of T1 – HLE, despite having faced a truly challenging first half of the year.
Furthermore, throughout League of Legends history, only Gumayusi has been benched and, in the same year, won the FMVP of the Worlds. Previously, his senior Faker never achieved this feat; during the years when Faker had to sit on the bench for professional reasons were 2015 (Faker did not win FMVP), 2021 (T1 did not reach the finals), and 2023 (FMVP was Zeus).

Finally, during the transfer season, Gumayusi was the player who “kicked off” a lively transfer period for LCK and the professional League of Legends scene in general after the Worlds concluded. He also concluded all audience expectations by joining HLE. It can be said that the influence of T1 and Gumayusi in 2025 is undeniable.

And it seems that the drama surrounding Gumayusi is not over yet
At present, Gumayusi is a player for HLE. However, for many, especially a portion of Faker’s die-hard fans, the drama or criticism directed at Gumayusi is far from over. It is very likely that this will signal a tumultuous 2026 for the Worlds FMVP, as he embarks on his career competing in tournaments without wearing the T1 colors anymore.
