In League of Legends, there are some mid lane mages who can only engage in team fights from a safe position and need to choose the right spot to avoid being easily taken down. However, there are also a few mages that dive straight into the enemy formation, “thrashing” energetically in fights while being very difficult to kill.
Here is a list of those “high-risk” mages:
Fizz

During the laning phase, Fizz may have to be patient and leave minions behind in the early levels to maintain a safe health pool. By level 3, Fizz can trade health evenly with many opponents. Particularly with Chum the Waters (E), Fizz is very hard to gank during this stage. At level 6, Fizz can take down opponents with just one combo and without needing many items.
In the later stages, Fizz will play the role of an assassin hunting down isolated targets or becoming an incredibly powerful initiation champion. In team fights, if an opponent gets caught by Fizz’s Playful/Trickster, they will have to… separate themselves from their team to avoid getting knocked up and taking area damage. At that point, Fizz will dive in and easily combo to eliminate the target, and the enemy can do little when Fizz can buy time and escape safely with Zhonya’s Hourglass + Playful/Trickster + Urchin Strike.

Ekko

While laning, Ekko can effectively use Timewinder (Q) to clear minions and poke. One of Ekko’s very effective combos is E+Q on the opponent, successfully activating his passive Z-Drive Resonance and quickly retreating.
In team fight situations, Ekko can dive right into the fight and control the entire enemy formation with Parallel Convergence (W). If he wants to be safer and more assured, Ekko can combo E + Hextech Belt into the W area and activate Zhonya’s Hourglass. Right after Zhonya’s effect ends, Ekko will gain a massive shield and stun all enemies in the area. Moreover, if things get too dangerous, Ekko can use his ultimate Chronobreak to regain a huge amount of health and return to the position he was in 4 seconds ago; with clever calculations, he can even deal enough damage to eliminate the entire enemy team.

Lissandra

In the early stages, Lissandra can easily clear minions and poke using Ice Shard (Q). When ganked by teammates, Lissandra can approach and control the enemy with the combo Glacial Path (E) + Ring of Frost (W) + Frozen Tomb (R). With this combo, most opponents cannot wake up until they are eliminated.
In team fights, Lissandra usually picks good angles to use E to dive straight into the enemy formation, binding everyone and immediately using her ultimate on herself. Right after that, this Ice Witch can cast Q+W and continue to buy time with Zhonya’s Hourglass. Especially if an enemy is taken down, her passive Iceborne Power will create Ice Shards that slow and chase the enemy to deal damage. During this time, all the enemy’s attention is focused on Lissandra, allowing her teammates to freely utilize the space in the fight to secure victory.
