LoL: Champions You ‘Must Try at Least Once’ in Each Position in Patch 10.5

If you're unsure which champion suits you, try playing the following powerful champions to expand your champion pool.

In League of Legends, if you want to climb the ranks easily, you need to have at least 1 to 2 champions you are comfortable with in each position. In fact, the wider your champion pool, the easier it is to counter your opponents. So if you’re familiar with very few champions, here’s a list of champions you should try in patch 10.5:

Kled – Top Lane

Kled is a tanky fighter who can deal continuous damage over time effectively. Notably, Kled cannot be burst down and taken out unexpectedly thanks to his mount, Skaarl. Especially in a meta where tank champions dominate, Kled can easily summon Skaarl for a second time and turn the tide unexpectedly.

In team fights, Kled can help the entire team engage beautifully – diving into any target and holding them down with his Q+E+E combo. Essentially, this is a champion who can operate continuously and relentlessly in fights.

Trundle – Jungle

Trundle is an emerging jungle champion in the current meta. If you don’t enjoy playing Trundle, you still need to know how to play against him. In the early stages, Trundle can farm the jungle effectively without losing health thanks to his passive and Q ability. When ganking, Trundle simply buffs his speed with W and charges straight in to place his Pillar (E) right in front of the opponent, then deals damage – simple yet effective.

In team fights, Trundle’s job is to disable the enemy team’s tank with just his ultimate, Subjugate. At that moment, the entire team can focus damage to finish off the target while the backline of the enemy team struggles to get past the Pillar of Ice.

Nocturne – Mid Lane

With his passive, Umbra Blades + Q and Tiamat, Nocturne can clear a wave of minions in 1-2 seconds easily, then move to help teammates control the map and gank powerfully with his ultimate. However, in the current meta, Nocturne’s strength is based on his runes:

With the super rune, Dark Harvest + W, Nocturne has an attack speed even more frightening than that of Blade of the Ruined King, ready to chase down and eliminate any opponent. Nocturne’s low energy problem is also somewhat mitigated with the rune Presence of Mind. The remaining runes have rather predictable effects such as reducing ultimate cooldown, increasing attack speed and damage,…

Jinx – Marksman

Jinx is not too strong in the laning phase, but becomes an extremely “chaotic” marksman in the later stages of the game. With Switcheroo! (Q), Jinx can clear minions very quickly, poke from afar, or retreat safely and wait for teammates to gank. With the W+E combo, Jinx can unleash control with many support champions like Leona, Thresh, Nautilus, or Pyke,…

In team fights, Jinx will be a champion that deals massive damage over time. Jinx can threaten any target, whether they have low or high health, whether far or near. The most important thing for Jinx is to maintain positioning and shoot the right targets in fights.

Bard – Support

It may seem a bit unreasonable that this is Bard the support, but this champion will definitely not waste your time. In the laning phase, Bard should start with support items like Spellthief’s Edge.

The strength of this champion lies in his ability to roam continuously with teammates thanks to his base movement speed and Magical Journey. Therefore, Bard will build damage and slow items like Iceborn Gauntlet + Hextech Gunblade. He can cast his ultimate, Tempered Fate, on opponents, then approach and take down the target with his teammates. It’s important for the marksman to manage the turret well while Bard roams.

In team fights, Bard will continuously stun and slow down any opponents trying to approach the marksman, which is quite easy with his items and skills. And while the opponents are busy “caring” for your carry, Bard’s damage will be the thing that takes them down.
