Flashpoint is a young tournament system established by organizations to counterbalance third-party organized leagues such as ESL Pro League and BLAST Premier. Although it doesn’t feature many top teams, Flashpoint still attracts a lot of attention from the community, especially fans of North American organizations like Cloud9, Gen.G Esports, and Orgless.
From the very beginning, Flashpoint has always affirmed its goal of making CS:GO more entertaining and accessible to a broader audience. In a recent stream, MonteCristo, a key figure in this league, revealed some quite surprising and interesting information about this issue. This stream featured MonteCristo, Thoorin, and hastr0, the owner of Team Envy – one of the founding members of Flashpoint.
Specifically, they hired a former WWE scriptwriter – the world’s leading professional wrestling company – with the aim of helping players develop their personalities and turn them into “superstars”.
“There will be training sessions with players, and we hired a former WWE scriptwriter whose job is to talk to players and develop their ‘characters’ just like they do with professional wrestlers in WWE,” MonteCristo shared during the stream.
This revelation made hastr0 laugh and joke: “I can imagine him telling s0m – This is the moment you will grab a chair and smash it right into Nifty (s0m’s teammate at Team Envy)”
Thorin and MonteCristo then explained: “At first, I was quite concerned about this decision since professional CS:GO players are very different from WWE wrestlers. For example, you can’t turn a reserved person like Daps into a brash and arrogant guy; it’s completely contrary to his personality. However, you can focus on other aspects, like his intelligence. What we want to do is entertain the audience in a way that has never been done before, and make players more interesting and easier to engage with.”

When compared to other competitors like BLAST Premier or ESL Pro League, Flashpoint clearly falls short in terms of professional quality (not many top teams are participating). However, their focus on entertainment and providing interesting content for viewers could be the key to competing with their rivals.
The fierce competition among these leagues promises to help professional CS:GO grow and attract new viewers.
Flashpoint will officially kick off this Friday, March 13, featuring top teams like MiBR, Gen.G Esports, Cloud9, c0ntact (ex-CRAZY), Dignitas, and more. We will continuously update all information about major tournaments as well as the latest hot news in the CS:GO scene, so stay tuned!
